LEAF DECAY

Leaves clean up quickly after tree chopping so farming areas stay clear and easier to work in.

Quick Reference
Command: None
Always Active: Yes
Trigger: Break tree logs
Main Effect: Nearby natural leaves decay much faster

What It Does

Leaf Decay speeds up the cleanup of natural leaves after logs are removed, instead of waiting through long vanilla decay timing.

The goal is faster tree farm cleanup and less clutter when clearing forests or builds.

What Players Notice

Situation Player Experience
You cut down logs Nearby leaves begin decaying quickly instead of lingering
Large tree chop sessions Canopies clear out much faster and farms reset sooner
Leaf decay drops Decay uses normal leaf-breaking behavior for drops
Player-placed decorative leaves Placed/persistent leaves are not force-decayed by this system

How It Behaves

  • Decay checks start when log blocks are broken.
  • Natural leaves are checked in the nearby area around the broken log.
  • Leaves that are still supported by logs are rechecked shortly instead of being removed immediately.
  • As leaves decay, nearby leaf blocks continue cascading through cleanup.

Where It Applies

Leaf Decay can be configured per world, and the default setup allows it across all worlds.

If you notice different behavior in a specific world, that world may use its own server rules.

Player Tips

  • For fastest cleanup, remove as many trunk logs as possible first.
  • If you are preserving a leaf design, place leaves manually so they stay persistent.
  • When farming trees at scale, give the canopy a moment after chopping before replanting in tight spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to run a command to use Leaf Decay?
A: No. It is automatic.

Q: Does this remove all leaves everywhere?
A: No. It reacts to tree/log breaking and targets nearby natural leaves.

Q: Will this delete decorative leaves I placed?
A: Player-placed persistent leaves are not meant to be auto-decayed by this feature.

Q: Are leaf drops still normal?
A: Yes. Leaves decay naturally, so normal decay outcomes still apply.
